First Day
First Day Procedures For Preps
We will be happy to welcome your child in the new school year. We are pleased to have your child at our school and we hope this will be a wonderful year for him/her.
On the first day you may stay with your child for a short time if you wish, and help with the "settling in" process. It's often best not to stay too long, 10 minutes or less is wisest. A morning tea will be provided in the multi-purpose room and you can meet with other parents there.
For the first two weeks, children will come straight to their classroom. Parents may bring them to the classsroom just before 9.00a.m., but it is advisable to help the child develop a sense of independence as soon as possible, so please leave promptly.
If your child becomes distressed at any time, we will contact you immediately.
Each child should bring to school -
- A cover-all smock with long sleeves, if possible a smock which the child can slip over the head, with no buttons or ties. Elastic at the wrists and neck is suggested.
- A library bag for borrowing books from the school library.
- A box of tissues - each child contributes one box of tissues to be stored in the classroom and distributed when needed by the class teacher.
- A chairbag.
Please name all belongings clearly.
Dismissal of Preps for the months of January and February
For the first week the children will finish at 12.15p.m. The following week they will finish at 1.30p.m. Thereafter during February, all Prep children will finish at 2.10 p.m., but they will stay in their room until they are picked up by an adult. If there are any changes, you will be notified.
From the end of February, all children will finish at 3.10 p.m. Please ring the school if you will be late to pick up your child, as they can become anxious. Please let the school know if someone apart from yourself is to pick up your child.
