Thank you all for collecting Learning Packs last Friday. These will last through to Friday August 28th, when we will have this Term's final set of learning materials ready for distribution, with work set for Weeks 8 to 10.

What will the future hold and what will Term 4 look like? At this stage I don't have the answers, but we are committed to continuing strong student engagement through all of the means available to us. I acknowledge the huge disruption this pandemic has caused, and as our attention turns towards winding up the year we will be focusing on re-engagement, re-assessment of student progress and appropriate and valuable transitions, particularly for our Year 6 students who deserve their own rites of passage, and for our Preps who need their foundational year honoured.

Next week I will send out another brief parent survey for you to complete, in order for the school to gain a sense of how everyone is coping during this second set of restrictions.

Due to the pandemic we have had to postpone our usual program of storytime and school experience for our incoming Prep class of 2021. I encourage you, however, to direct family and friends of pre-school children to our virtual school tour, and to this website and our school Facebook page. We offer fantastic teaching and learning at Warburton Primary School, and the more enrolments we have, the better the experiences we are able to deliver.

See the virtual school tour below! And until next time, stay safe and look after yourselves and each other.

google classroom takes off!

Google Classroom has been our school's online learning environment for a few years now, but it has really taken off during Learning from Home.

We are using it to post lessons and activities, classroom readings, videos, photos and audio recordings. Students and teachers are also using it to communicate with each other, supplemented by GMail and Google Meet.

Each classroom has their own Google Classroom area, and recent posts include:

  • Mrs G's video lessons on poetry and writing

  • Minnie's Storytime and Spelling videos

  • Kel's AUSLAN videos

  • Mrs Ireland's SMART Spelling and her reading of George's Marvellous Medicine

  • Julie's reading activities and texts

  • Audio recordings of Leon reading his story

  • Photos of food baked by Cash and Matilda

Students are using Google Classroom to ask questions about their work, and to give feedback on their Learning from Home experiences.

Take a look at Google Classroom if you haven't yet seen it! Your child has been given their log in details; please contact the school if they need help gaining access.
