Performing Arts

Our Performing Arts program, aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, provides students with opportunities to develop confidence, creativity and collaboration through engaging experiences in drama, music and movement in a fun and supportive environment. Students participate in interactive drama activities and group performances that build communication skills, encourage teamwork and support creative expression through voice, body and movement.

Music learning focuses on developing rhythm, listening and performance skills through singing, vocal warm-ups, percussion activities and instrumental exploration. Students are introduced to basic ukulele skills and simple chords, while also working collaboratively in small groups to create simple compositions and musical patterns that communicate mood and atmosphere.

Students regularly have opportunities to rehearse and perform for audiences through both classroom and whole-school events. These include assembly performances, where students share songs, movement and instrumental work with the school community, as well as major celebrations such as the school’s 150th Anniversary, which showcases whole-school and class performances. Community events including Night of Lights feature bush dancing, lantern parades and collaborative musical performances. End of year celebrations and picnic performances also provide students with authentic opportunities to share their learning, build confidence and develop stage presence in front of the wider school community.

Through these experiences, students learn to communicate ideas, tell stories and respond creatively through the Performing Arts while developing confidence, resilience and a lifelong enjoyment of music and performance.
